Caption
A title, short explanation, or description accompanying an image.
Clickable
An image or text that you can click on with the mouse to bring up another image, text message or website
Content management system (CMS)
A website management system that enables you to manage your own website content
Copy (words)
Written content in publications, in contrast to photographs or other elements of layout
Cropping
To trim off portions of an image to change it’s shape and size
CRT
This is a computer screen that has a tube in like a traditional television
Database
A database can be defined as a structured collection of records or data that is stored in a computer so that a program can consult it to answer queries.

Domain Name
A name that identifies a website address on the Internet. These names appear as the Website name or URL, e.g. www.nichdesign.co.nz
Download time
This is the amount of time files take to be transferred or to open on the Internet.
Electronic mail (abbreviated "e-mail" or, often, "email") is a store and forward method of composing, sending, storing, and receiving messages over electronic communication systems.

A commonly used standard method of compression for photographic images. The name JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group, the name of the committee who created the standard.

LCD
A digital display that uses liquid crystal cells that change reflectivity in an applied electric field; used for portable computer displays and watches etc.
Login
The process by which individual access to a computer system is controlled by identification of the user in order to obtain credentials to permit access.
Logo
This is your unique symbol or typography that represents you and your work.
Meta Tag
Meta elements provide information about a given web page, most often to help search engines categorize them correctly.
Mouse Over
The term used to indicate a change that appears under your mouse pointer when you pass over any screen object that has an active link.
Password
A form of secret authentication for your entry to the website administration area.
Pixel
A pixel (short for picture element, using the common abbreviation "pix" for "picture") is a single point in a graphic image.
Profile
Personal information about you and your work.
Reciprocal Link
When you link to someone’s website on the basis that they have linked to your website or vice versa.

Resize
Change the size of; make the size more appropriate
Reviews
A report or essay giving a critical estimate of a work or performance.
Save
To copy (a file) from a computer’s main memory to a disk or other storage medium, to save the changes you have made to your website.
Screen Resolution
The display resolution of a digital television or computer display 72 dpi typically refers to the number of distinct pixels in each dimension that can be displayed.
Search engine
An information retrieval system designed to help find stored information, such as on the World Wide Web, inside a corporate or proprietary network, or in a personal computer.
Server
A computer that provides services to other computers, or the internet
Tags
Keyword or term associated with or assigned to a piece of information (like picture, article, or video clip), describing the item and enabling keyword-based classification of information it is applied to.
Thumbnail
A reduced-size version of a picture
Title
The name of a your work, such as a book, film, piece of art, audio recording or website
Traffic
The number of visitors to a website.
Unique visitors
A statistic describing a unit of traffic to a Web site, counting each visitor only once in the time frame of the report. This statistic is relevant to site publishers and advertisers as a measure of a site’s true audience size
User Name
Users may need to identify themselves for the purposes of security, and so they can login using their user names and password. It is often referred to as authentication.
Visitor Session
This is when someone visits your site.
